Grass-fed Beef and Pastured Pork

Welcome to

The Farm on Dead Horse Flats!

We operate a quarter-section of land, approximately 150 acres, on one of the original Homesteads in Bonanza Alberta. We are first generation farmers, who migrated from Vancouver Island in 2022. The property had been in a state of neglect for nearly two decades before we bought it, as the previous owners did not farm the land and had no interest in doing so.

In the spring of 2024 we started to collect our herd, and our property became a functioning farm yet again. What began with one bottle-fed steer, turned into a dozen cattle and a handful of pigs within a year.

We raise our animals without the use of any hormones or antibiotics.

We believe that the farm is a whole - animals, plants, people, the soil and environment all work as a finely tuned and interconnected system.

We are passionate about raising happy, healthy animals and treating them with the upmost care and respect. Grass-fed cattle live their best lives foraging in dense pasture, sheltered among the trees. On the other side of the fence live the pigs. Scattered throughout the forest they rejuvenate the land through silvopasture practices - keeping invasive species in check, clearing underbrush to mitigate wildfire risk, and fertilizing as they go.

Our farm is the very first in Saddle Hills County to participate in the ALUS program.

We focus on environmental stewardship to create a multi-functional and resilient landscape that is flourishing with biodiversity. Through regenerative farming practices we feed the soil, which in turn feeds the animals.

This Deutz tractor was redeemed from a field after nearly two-decades of weathering harsh Canadian winters. After some TLC she continues to surprise us. No computers to glitch, just pure mechanics. As intended.
